As Muslims all over the World celebrate Eid El Kabir, Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has called on Muslim faithful across the Country to promote the positive attributes of humility, loyalty, love and unity, which constitute the key components of the celebration.
The Governor also wants them to always emphasize the importance of religious tolerance in the Country as a vital ingredient for peace and development to thrive in all ramifications.
He noted that, this year’s celebration affords Nigerians of all religions and ethnic divides, another opportunity to correct the wrongs of the past and return the Country to that enviable position it has always occupied in the African continent and beyond.
Describing Nigeria as one of the most endowed Nations in the world, the Bayelsa State Governor, called on Muslims to eschew all forms of acrimonious and divisive tendencies and see other Nigerians , no matter their religious inclinations as close relatives and work collectively for the overall growth and development of every section of the Country.

He reminded them of how Nigeria’s diversity has remained its most potent and appreciable quality in its continuous rise from Independence in 1960 to date, stressing that, rather than allow, the selfish motives of a very few individuals to derail the deep rooted love, unity and peaceful coexistence that have become the envy of other nations, they should strive to promote them beyond limits.
While, wishing Muslim faithful across the Country a happy Eid El Kabir, Hon. Dickson called on Nigerians to remain supportive to the present administration both at State and Federal levels in its efforts at enthroning lasting peace and unity in parts of the Country affected by the Boko Haram insurgency and other negative vices that seem to undermine the good intentions of Government.
Governor Dickson also commended Muslim leaders and clerics in the Country for their efforts at ending the activities of Boko Haram in some parts of the Country and called for all hands to be on deck in current steps at ending the Boko Haram menace, which is totally at variance with the ideals of the founding Fathers of the Nation.
He described Bayelsa as a home to all Nigerians and Religions, stressing that, his administration will stop at nothing to create the enabling environment for all to live and do business in the State.
