HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A FOREMOST AND DETRIBALISED DEMOCRAT, ALHAJI SHEHU ALIYU SHAGARI @89 — GOV DICKSON

25/02/2014
On behalf of the Government and good people of Bayelsa State, I hereby congratulate one of Nigeria’s most iconic, detribalized and foremost democrats, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Shagari, GCFR, and Second Republic President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the auspicious occasion of his 89th birthday.

Your Excellency, as a government, we wish to express our love and appreciation of your unique and exemplary leadership qualities, whose service to our nation was sterling and most remarkable.

As President of our great country and in all the several leadership positions that you were privileged to occupy, you brought to the fore such positive attributes as tolerance, honesty, selflessness, patriotism and love, rising above all manner of divisions.

You demonstrated an uncommon capacity to build bridges of unity and understanding amongst the diverse people and cultures of our nation and above all, you were very accommodating and exemplary.

These are virtues all political leaders, especially we the younger politicians of this generation should emulate and espouse.

As you deservedly approach the four scores and ten mark, we pray that, God in His infinite mercies will continue to grant you good health and wisdom to contribute meaningfully to the growth of our democracy and national development.

Signed
Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson
Governor, Bayelsa State
